Radio Bartok, live concert broadcast, 1995
In January 1995 I presented a piano recital for Bartok Radio, with a programme that was highly unusual for Hungary at the time. I started and finnished with 3 pieces from Olivier Messiaen's Vingt Regards sur l'enfant-Jésus, played the Piano Sonata by Aaron Copland in the middle and - for a local flavour - the first of Béla Bartók's Three Rondos on Folk Tunes. I don't think the Messiaen and the Copland had ever been performed in Hungary before. The concert attracted the attention of the celebrated critic, broadcaster and writer, György Kroó, who dedicated his weekly radio broadcast to a discussion of the event.
